Ok, so I woke up a bit late today... turned on the bath, and was waiting for the water to get warm.... it usually takes a few seconds. A minute went buy, and the water was still icy cold. I says to myself... "Oh great... our hot water is out!"
I don’t know what made me decide to do it, but I turned the dial from hot to cold... as soon as it reached cold, hot water came out?!?! I moved the dial back to hot and cold water came out. :-| ?
Yeah, I don't get it...
[back]So I spent the past few days making the foundry. Next time, I need to remember to make extra material. I need to mix the material as dray as I can. I need to let the material dry for a week or so once I have lined the can, and way before I decide to fire it. I need an air supply that moves a smaller amount of air. Despite the things I didn't do this time, it still turned out ok.... this is what I would call a fool proof project.
Also managed to melt down some metal... pretty sure it was Al, but could be zinc or pot metal. I made a mold of one of Joseph's letter blocks ("Z" of course). It didn't turn out half bad. Next on the list to do is to make up some more green sand, make some flasks, and put together some molding tools!
