10/14/07 - Road Trip...

Ok... not so much a road trip as a 3 hour drive to a 1.5 hour meeting. Then a 3 hour drive back home. Interesting trip however! It rained most of the trip, and I had to leave the house at around 5:30am... it always surprises me how many people are out driving around at that time.

After about an hour of driving I noticed some flashing lights off in distance on the other side of the highway. I assumed emergency vehicle, but it turned out to be a spotter vehicle. I started looking for some pre-fab house or large piece of machinery... but that not what was being transported. I had to do quite a double take when the cargo finally came by. 2 or 3 large bronze horses... on the back of a flat bed truck. The horses where the length of the turk bed and scaled accordingly. The sculptures had the horses in fight, so it looked quite impressive so see the mammoth mustangs barreling down the highway in stampede fashion. This sight along would have made the day worth the trip.

I got to my meeting after challenging through all of the football mania on the IowaSU campus... all the tailgating was impressive to see... and a bit odd to see so many wet cold people so excited and happy. Meeting with the "VR" department was shot but very interesting. I have some ideas how we can use use some of the technology to better use resources at work.

Before leaving campus I drove by a Catholic Church that I have not been to nor remembered since New Years of 1999. I also saw Hurkey meandering around... gotta feel bad for the guy... I think the long horns gored ISU pretty bad.

I also saw the Magic School bus on the way home. Odd to see a bus from the cartoons driving down the highway.
